That is probably correct.
My father, who passed away in 2018 at 97, fought real-life "live" Nazis in WW2. In hand-to-hand combat he killed someone with a knife ... he never came to terms with it. It haunted him till his dying day.

I think that Ukraine should be admitted as a NATO-member immediately, that would put the whole event in its correct perspective.
But NATO was started with the idea of just creating a deterent never to see action. Now when there would come a situation where combat action is real and NATO-troops actually are under fire, all the big mouthers shut up and say they don't want an escallation.
If NATO were to establish itself in Ukraine, this war would be over in less than a week when Putin would be faced with article-5 of the North Atlantic treaty.
