One day many moons ago I was driving through the Irish country-side at night in the nawth.
Suddenly a red light summons me to a stop, a steel barrier closes in front of me, a steel barrier closes behind me and a dozen policemen fully armed surround me, barking dogs and all. Spread all 4, body search, car searched, camera under the car to see if I wasn't transporting any contraband ... "have a good evening sir" ... I had just reached the border of Northern England. Even US customs and immigration never treated me that way.
