I haven't checked lately to see how far the traffic jam stretches from the tunnel entrance or the ferry-terminal but British sovereignty is a thing from the past when Britain ruled the waves.
The moment a trade-agreement will be concluded, and it may be well after the Brexit-deadline, then sovereignty is given up.
Britain has never been a good EU-partner and through the different unfriendly administrations we are not really sorry to see it go. I do feel for the population though who are only now beginning to understand what a monstrocity they are heading into.
Over the years I traveled to the UK a couple of times, and at the border you always had to pass customs and immigration, they were always very unwelcoming. After brexit it will be the same ... still unwelcoming.
