When the mailflow is 1:140/1 -> 2:292/854 and the problem is "somewhere between those systems", then it can only be the receiver who is at fault as the sender initiates the transaction and cannot be blamed for doing that.
The problem however does not manifest itself "in-transit" ... it is either at 1:140/1 or at 2:292/854, but not somewhere up in the sky.
Well, my dear man, the problem is "not" at 2:292/854.
