That is exactly what I was attempting to describe. Fixed amounts like utilities I have no problem with automatic payments.
Variable ones I first want to see the invoice ... like telephone bills. I do get my telephone bill electronically delivered to my bankaccount in a "waiting area". Via my cellphone I can verify it and then, after review, autorize the payment from the phone. I do it that way for my insurances, cable-TV, others ...
I'm certain we were talking the same thing here.
Automatic payments were already available here when I opened my first bank account like in 1970 or so.
