I have similar opinion. But - I was having "not reachable" node for years. Mainly due to amount of messages dropped down rapidly. And so that low latency of messages I thought it was wastig of money to keep that infrastructure running 24/7.
But it changed recently (I am even on ipv6 now ;-)
