In .cz country, communism colabsed Nov 1989 (Velvet revolution) where first node I see April 1990 (2:42/0 - base on archive, I was not there yet). It was more like: we changed system here and we could then communicate better towards world. (btw, that time there was still embargo to get 100MB HDD into our country).
Milestones (my point of view):
Even if there was split to 2 countries (1993) we kept same region (there was no war surprisingly and we call each other still brothers).
2002 big flooding in Prague, same internet datacentres were offline, fidonet kept working on dialin technology.
In general, regarding Fidonet, everything was nice, freedom and respect longtime. Unfortunatelly last year 2022 we experienced again that government started certain censorship and I hope they will not touch Fidonet (same way they impacted Internet: removal domains from DNS, etc.).
