It IS one of those visual novels, but only the last 25%, with the huge Jun Maeda -style emotional peaks and swelling music. All the fun and silly comedy that happens in the common route is completely forgotten.
This also strips it almost entirely of the context for Violet's tragic character and the audience ends up not feeling anything despite being under constant barrage of emotional cues to FEEL.
