The Windows version of Golded has a serious flaw. Whatever the active code page is, Golded insists on using the default code page that was configured at system start. In my case CP850. I can have it create messages encoded in other encodings than CP850, but I can only uses and display the characters from the CP850 character set. For using characters outside that range, I have to have it use an external editor.
I have not given up all hope yet that one day this may be fixed...
